Galileo O&P - Lubricating the Rails
Purpose
Prevent extra wear on the bearings and reduce potential noise coming from the movement of the printer
Recurrence
Once every 6 months or when squeaking
Steps

Home the machine

From the Main Menu, go to the Move Menu

Home

Home All
-
-
Lower the Z-Axis
-
Go back to the Move Menu
-
Set “Move Distance” to 50mm
-
Hit Z+
-
Hitting "Z-" will crash the Bed into the Nozzles
-
-
Set “Move Distance” to 5mm
-
Hit Z+
-
The Z level should be at 70mm
-
-
-
Select Disable Motors
-
Accept
- Position Gantry and Toolheads similar to provided picture
-
-
Apply Lubrication to Z Rails
-
Use the provided Oil Bottle to apply oil to the hole in the rail
-
The hole should be partially covered by the X Gantry
-
Fill the hole until almost flush
-
Not much oil should be used
-
-
Do this for all 3 Vertical, Z Rails

-
-
Apply Lubrication to X Rail
-
Place a small, ~1/4” bead of oil on the rail to the Left side of the Left Toolhead
-
Place a small, ~1/4” bead of oil on the rail to the Right side of the Right Toolhead
-
-
Apply Lubrication to Y Rails
-
Place a small, ~1/4” bead of oil on the Left rail in front of the gantry
-
Place a small, ~1/4” bead of oil on the Right rail in front of the gantry

-
Working the oil into the bearings
-
With the gantry still in the center position
-
Grab the center of the gantry, move as far back as you can
-
Pull gantry all the way forward
-
Repeat this twice more
-
Home all - then you’re done!
